Tech employee gets promoted, entitled sister assumes she can take his old job despite having no experience, only for him to refuse to recommend her: ‘She called me selfish’

Does getting a promotion mean your old job suddenly becomes a family hand-me-down?

We all know that family relations can be not only a very complicated subject, but also a sensitive one. Some family members become entitled and think they deserve things because "we're family", and that's it. But out there in the real world, things work differently, and being someone's sister doesn't give you certain rights. This is something that needs to be taught to this tech employee's family.

This man got promoted at work, and he was very excited about it. He told his parents and his sister over the weekend. He's doing well in life, but his sister is struggling. She has kids, and recently, her husband quit his job because he wants to launch his social media career, so money is tight now. Once he told her about the promotion, the question about his old position was asked. 

He wasn't sure about what was going to happen with that, and he casually mentioned that the company might hire someone new. His sister automatically said, 'I'll take it', as if that comment was actually a job offer on its own. Mind you: this woman has no experience in tech whatsoever, so they single thought of her working for that company is just unreal.

Of course, the employee thought she was kidding… but apparently, she was very serious. The next day she uploaded her LinkedIn status and told everyone she was actually starting to work for that company! She even asked questions about meetings and when they were scheduled… The brother was confused and told her he was not recommending her because she had no experience!

And now, as we can all expect, family drama unfolded, and they are calling him selfish because he has his career already and he doesn't want to help this woman out. He knows that they are struggling with money, and that his help is needed right now. But it's not like he's a bad person; she doesn't have what it takes to work in that company… Besides, who skips a whole interview process just for being someone's sister?
